September it was
On a Sunday afternoon
lunch, I barely recollect
we talked about future perhaps
or was it about past mishaps
some moments are a blur
I do remember giggles
of you two, so much so
mouth trickling dribbles
we drove back home
almost reaching the gate
you took a sudden left
vroom, vroom zoomed the car
giggles become laughter
and you go faster
I pass a glance
you shrug,
good times aren't a chance
off we run to green grass
breeze and sun gently in swing
I lay down
crisp soft grass tickly in my ears
I squint my eyes, close it shut
sun filtering through trees
I was half asleep
you both running around
picking up fallen leaves
I can hear the rustle now
of steps and the leaves
almond leaves!
those large oval serrated ones
yellow, shade of red
foliage ready for it's showtime
fallen flowers adds to the rhyme
you both gently come lay
a tiny head and a large head
on my chest
whisper the stories of leaves
In that moment
tears must have flowed
It flows now in abundance
for it was precious
to feel intimacy of love
in midst of light and cosmos
When was all this?
September it was!!
